Admission criteria for the Master of Science (MSc).

The number of admissions to the Postgraduate Program is set at a maximum of forty-five (45) per cycle of studies and a minimum of nine (9) postgraduate students.

Admissions Selection Criteria and Procedure

i. Invitation to express interest.
The Department of Medicine, on dates set by the Assembly, issues a call for expressions of interest, announcing positions through an open procedure for the admission of graduates to the Master of Science in Health Sciences "Primary Health Care: Social Medicine and Pharmaceutical Care".
The invitation states the admission requirements, the categories of graduates and the number of admitted students, the admission method, the selection criteria, the deadlines for submitting applications, as well as the required supporting documents.
Applications, together with the necessary supporting documents, are submitted to the Secretariat of the relevant Department as specified in the relevant notice.

ii. Admissions Selection Committee.
The selection of those admitted to the Postgraduate Medical School is made by a Three-Member Committee of Faculty members of the Department who have undertaken postgraduate work, which is formed by decision of the Assembly of the Department of Medicine.

iii. The conditions and criteria for selecting candidates are specific, quantitative and/or qualitative, and are made known to the candidates with the announcement of the P.M.S.

The selection criteria for the Postgraduate Diploma in Emergency Medicine are the following:

1. Degree/Diploma from an Undergraduate Program of University or TEI.
2. Detailed Grade in undergraduate courses, which are relevant to the P.M.S.
3. Performance in the Diploma Thesis, where this is provided for in the first cycle of studies.
4. Knowledge of foreign languages (knowledge of English preferred)
5. Relevant research or professional activity of the candidate related to the subject of the M.A.
6. Participation in publications in an international medical journal or related one with a high impact factor.
7. Other Publications and writing activity in the field of Primary Health Care.
8. Letters of recommendation. Two letters of recommendation are requested (optionally) from faculty members or researchers from Greece or abroad, employers, organizations or institutions, etc., of which at least one (1) must be from a faculty member.
9. Interview by a competent Committee – it is noted that the score of the interview will depend on the quality of the undergraduate and any postgraduate studies, the level of language proficiency, the quality of employment as well as the subjective assessment of the interviewers as to whether the candidate could benefit from pursuing a postgraduate degree.

The method of evaluation (scoring) of the above criteria falls within the competence of the Department Assembly and is described in the call for expressions of interest.

iv. Selection process

Those wishing to participate in the selection process are invited to submit a file
candidacy with the following supporting documents:

1. Participation application
2. Copy of degree and other academic qualifications (with the required translations and recognitions as provided for by the current provisions for foreign qualifications)
3. Copy of the detailed grade sheet showing the topic and grade of the thesis (where applicable)
4. Photocopy of ID
5. One recent photograph (color, square, dimensions 3.6 x 3.6 cm)
6. Proof of good knowledge of the English language or a responsible declaration of satisfactory language skills for understanding English literature (will be assessed during the oral examination)
7. Proof of another foreign language (optional)
8. Curriculum vitae, which will show studies, scientific, research and professional experience
9. Copies of publications (the full publication in a journal in a copy or full journal details and a copy of the abstract), announcements (copy of only the abstract from the book of abstracts)
10. Recommendation letter(s) up to 2 (optional)

Candidates are advised to carefully check the instructions regarding each individual criterion for their scoring, so that the file is submitted in full by the predetermined dates specified in the call for expressions of interest. Supplementary, incomplete or late documents will not be accepted.

The selection process is as follows:

1) A complete list of those who have submitted an application is initially compiled by the Secretariat of the P.M.S.
2) The Admissions Selection Committee:
i. rejects candidates who do not meet the requirements.
ii. ranks the candidates by category of graduates and proceeds to the pre-publication of the provisional selection list and announces the time period for objections.
iii. invites to an interview (if provided) those candidates decided to be invited by the Admissions Selection Committee.
iv. after examining the objections and based on the candidate's final score, it prepares the final selection list in order of merit.

3) The final list of successful candidates is ratified by the Assembly. It is posted in accordance with the provisions on the protection of personal data on the website of the P.M.S. and in the Department's announcements.

In the event of a tie, all candidates with the same score will be admitted, provided that they do not exceed the maximum number of applicants specified in the Call for Expressions of Interest. In the event that the maximum number of applicants for the Master of Science (MSc) is reached, the candidate with the highest degree will be admitted.

The successful candidates, after being informed by the Secretariat, are invited to respond in writing within 10 (ten) days as to whether they accept their membership in the P.M.S. and its operating conditions. Failure to respond within the above deadline by the selected candidate is equivalent to a refusal of acceptance and the P.M.S. Secretariat informs the next candidate in the evaluation order from the relevant list of successful candidates.

Registration and Commencement of Studies

The duration of registration as well as the required supporting documents are announced by the Secretariat of the Postgraduate Program.
To register for the P.M.S., successful candidates must appear in person at the Secretariat or send by post or submit electronically the relevant supporting documents. Registration is considered complete when all required supporting documents are submitted.
The positions of successful candidates who do not register by the deadline will be filled by other successful candidates from the list of runners-up based on the order of success.
In addition, upon completion of registration, the PMS course schedule is communicated to all postgraduate students, as well as any additional information regarding their obligations during their studies.
